The first of our Cracking Christmas Parties kicked off last weekend and will continue to run throughout December.  The holiday’s are coming!

Taking a trip to the Galpharm Stadium for some Christmas fun is like Walking in a Winter Wonderland…The Christmas tree’s up, the lights are twinkling, Christmas music is sounding round the room and Galpharm’s largest suite  (The Revell Ward Suite) is dressed to impress. Guests turned up in their Christmas finery, some even in fancy dress as elves, Santa Claus and fairies!  The atmosphere was fizzing with excitement and there were smiles all round. Ho ho ho what a jolly night it was!

The traditional three course Christmas menu went down a treat. Guests had the option of selecting a festive soup, turkey and mince pie option, a favourite by many, or something more unusual; ham hock and parsley terrine, slow braised Bedale beef, or wild mushroom risotto. My personal favourite on this year’s menu has got to be the Little Pot of Dark Chocolate & Vanilla Cream! After a very satisfying three course meal guests were presented with yet another course: after dinner coffee and chocolate confectionery.

Once the plates were clean, the party got into full swing with a disco. Party goers were boogying on the dance floor to a number of well known pop hits and Christmas tunes.

It was a fantastic beginning to the festive celebrations at Galpharm and what’s even better is that there’s more Christmas Party nights to come!

Oh I wish it could be Christmas everyday…!

The RFL announced on Monday that the Galpharm Stadium has been chosen as a 2013 World Cup Venue! The Galpharm is just one of 18 venues that will take part in the 14 nation tournament.

This will undoubtedly boost the economy of the nearby area and be excellent for raising the profile of The Galpharm Stadium and the Huddersfield Giants.

The bid team have worked exceptionally hard over the last few months and their hard work has clearly paid off. The fixture for the World Cup game hosted by the Galpharm has not yet been revealed. A total of 34 bids, comprising 30 stadia, 47 team training sites and 87 team base camps, were submitted to the RFL. All involved in the bidding process underwent a detailed inspection, evaluating their facilities and suitability as a World Cup venue. Also, taken into consideration during the selection process was the bidder’s enthusiasm and commitment. 

 The Huddersfield Stadium has in the past played host to a number of high profile RL games including World Cup semi-finals.

The 2013 World Cup will be staged in four countries with matches staged in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The World Cup commences in the Autumn of 2013.

As you all know, we at the Galpharm Stadium recently played host to an evening with the legendary Ricky Hatton! The night was sold out weeks in advance and we were all really looking forward to the entertainment, question and answer time, the guest speakers and above all the food in a fantastic venue!

Firstly, thank you to all who attended, it was a wonderful evening. Also, thank you to the staff hosting the event for carrying it off without a hitch!

York based Philip Seymour, Sports MC and Stadium announcer was the evenings compere adding his ‘golden voice’ to the event.  He sat at the top table alongside Ricky Hatton and with future champions Tyrone Nurse and Liam Patrick Walsh.

A three course meal was enjoyed by all comprising of Tomato Soup, Roast Breast of Beverly Chicken and Chocolate Covered Profiteroles. Yum! All three hundred and five guests enjoyed the evening that was in aid of Cash for Kids.  VIPs had a private area with champagne reception and could also meet Ricky Hatton!

Dinner was served at 8:00pm sharp followed by the night’s entertainment Ricky Hatton. Aside from Ricky Hatton, there was an auction and a raffle which were really well received. We thank everyone for participating.  The after party was great too!
